The Missing Piece of the Guitar Puzzle
My message today is directed at guitar players that are frustrated by a lack of progress. They feel that something’s missing that keeps them from advancing, and they’re correct. Most guitarists reach a level after playing for a couple of years that is pretty much the end of progress. This plateau can last decades if you don’t find the key. I’m here today to share the key.

Hey Doug you are right, It would be fantastic to have a guitar instructor. For me it's personally the price even though it is very well worth it. There was a place by me called School Of Rock I would have loved to attend but at $350 a month it was just out of my budget. Any private guitar players in my area are typically charging around $90 an hour or more. I know it is well worth it but it's just never been in the budget. I am very thankful for your amazing videos. The complete rock guitar course is a true game changer for sure in my humble opinion.

Hey Doug! We love you so much man. I have your complete rock guitar course and the "easy guitar modes" DVDs. It's so awesome to see you making content and posting new videos. I really want to buy all the DVD's for every course before they are gone forever. Having the physical copy means the world to me. Thank you so much Doug! You know alot of the older gentleman I personally know , who play rock and metal say it all started for them with Metal Method. I feel like everything you share with us is a lesson. Keep on rocking Doug and again thank you so much for all these years of rock n roll and heavy freakin metal.

While Michael's playing is technically clean and fast, the more you develop your musical sensibilities, the more you'll be able to hear how this is more of an advanced set of 'scale patterns' practice and less of a cohesive song that is memorable. The best thing to ask yourself with just about any piece of music..."Is there anything you can take away that you can hum to yourself, or are there clear musical ideas that you can recall in your head??" Try it now. :) What you recall is probably grouping of scale runs in 4s. Meaning...ba da da da, ba da da da, ba da da da, ba da da da, etc going up and down, right?

They don't make it look easy. To them it IS easy. This is what hours upon hours of practice will eventually do; take something incredibly intricate and made it second nature. There's no great secret, kids. Grab a metronome and be prepared to work hard for years.

Technically great, never really grabbed me like yngwie, becker, lane, Gilbert, Johnson, etc. That hand over neck stuff😂 cmon man. At 17 i could play hot for teacher on drums an guitar at the same time sans every single ride cymbal hit. lol But that was a little bragging gimmick i did that wasn't useful to any good music so i stopped. Just wanted to show myself i could do it. Point is, playing for sport is useless. Becker did that yoyo thing😂 Batio is insanely good ,though. If you think about it, only a few shredders really stand out because of originality, sound, style, etc

Crazy. How does that work. I'll try it next time things go out. Usually my guitars are setup well enough once they are in tune they stay there so close I can just touch the one or two strings and I don't have to chase my tail, but this will be great for stretching new strings, and working on guitars.

All of your advice is welcome. I have always applied what i feel is useful to my walk. Thanks for the pearls of wisdom. You're a life teacher among many other things. Brief anecdote from my own life. I learned not to over practice. Lol. I almost forgot the lyrics to our first song in a new band lineup on an unexpected performance offer. Thankfully, i remembered in time just before the vocal was to come in after the intro. I calmed myself and never let on as i was in brief panic in my mind. I remembered your advice in my own interpretation from lesson tapes, which was so what, just jave fun!

Let’s face it, Lefty’s are good for two things, boxing and pitching, kidding.., sort of. Lots of Lefties do play right handed because of the options for left handed guitars are nil basically, also though lefties live in a right handed handed world except for toilets, the handle is typically on the left, which is odd, but they learn to use their right hands far more than us righties learn to use our lefts. Most right handed people are really right hand dominant and wonder sometimes if we even need our left hand.
